Our Story

Music Academia is a locally founded and locally funded 501(c) (3) nonprofit with a mission to make learning music accessible to every kid in the community. Vijayan has been learning music since he was four years old and during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown when everyone was stuck inside their homes, playing the piano gave Vijayan peace of mind and was a huge stress buster. He knew learning music is expensive and he thought about all those kids who love music but are unable to learn it due to their economic conditions. He wanted to share his knowledge with those kids and give them the opportunity to experience the peace and stress relief that music offered him. So, in January 2021 at the tender age of 12, he started a music program called Vijayan’s Music for All and taught piano for free to a few underprivileged kids. After teaching for a couple of years, he wanted to scale it up and help more kids learn music which led to the birth of Music Academia in 2023.
